“Whoso leaneth on the Lord, happy is he.” (Prov. 16:20)
“Cause me to hear…for on thee do I lean.” (Ps. 143:8)
“What time I am afraid, I will lean on thee.” (Ps. 56:3)
Thank you for praying…last Tuesday, July 19th was a day of victory for the children at Applewood Housing Development in West Bay, Cayman Island.
Dogs barking, saws buzzing, rain threatening, or children taunting could not stop the gospel from going forth…with the powerful work of the Holy Spirit and your prayers! After Monday’s attack of Satan we knew this battle belonged to the Lord. I can’t say that all problems ceased, indeed they did not, but 2 girls prayed to receive Jesus as Savior on that very difficult Monday. They even returned with Bibles in hand saying that they had decided to start praying daily together. One of the boys who had been such a problem prayed to receive Jesus as his Savior on Tuesday! Approximately 50 kids attended throughout the week!
Our week of 5-Day Clubs was one wonderful surprise after another! Three older young men from Grand Cayman joined our team throughout the week which not only gave them a vision for next year’s training, but they witnessed first hand how God’s love perseveres. Our unstoppable team made up of Laura Nelson from Indiana, and Nathaly Yeremian from California, could not be daunted through discouragement. They smiled through every disappointment even more determined to press on with the strength of the Lord. Both Laura and Nathaly’s love for the children just won out…God’s love in their hearts for these hurting kids made a lasting impression on each life they touched…. whether it be preschoolers, or seventeen year olds who showed up to see who these dynamic American girls were.
If there is one thing about both Laura and Nathaly that stands out, it is INVOLVEMENT!
Not one child missed out on their loving, winsome ways that drew the kids to the love of Christ. They simply were not afraid of any situation they were placed in…believe me, sometimes I felt that Mary Slessor was being lived out right in front of me!
I knew the schedule would be rigorous, but I felt an urgency to plan every club we could manage. The result was a total of 6 clubs starting at 8:30 am each day, with the last hoola-hoop and soccer ball picked up around 7pm.
Over 120 kids heard the gospel, with approximately 6 salvations. (We don’t know for certain, but many came back each day to pray.)
I know Grand Cayman will never be the same and we certainly will never be the same after this last week. We feel truly honored to be apart of a work that God is leading.
Please pray for upcoming training, Sept 9,10, 16,17 for those interested in teaching Good News Clubs starting the last week of Sept in the government and private schools.
“Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness!” Psalm 115:1
