The Cayman Islands are famous for their Tortuga Rum Cake. It is one of the main exports of the island and can be found on almost any island in the Caribbean. It is a moist and delicious cake made from an old family recipe handed down from generation to generation. As its name suggests it has a small percentage of rum in it. The rum cake is one of the most popular souvenirs for tourists to take home. Tortuga was the name first given to the Cayman Islands meaning “turtle” and one of the islands main attractions is a turtle farm.
Of course beauty is characteristic of every Caribbean island and is of Grand Cayman and the smaller two islands as well. Imagine a beautiful sandy beach seven miles long! As you might guess it is called “Seven Mile Beach”. It beautifully enhances the deep blue Caribbean Sea! People from West Bank, East Bank, and North side of the island would argue their area is the most beautiful but each area is beautiful in its own way. Traffic jams, even on a small island, are a common problem especially during morning and evening rush hours. By passes have helped ease some the congestion and many simply try to avoid driving during peak hours.
Schools at this time are open to CEF sharing the Gospel but doors are beginning to close. As a result, local residents feel an urgent need for CEF to move quickly to establish after school Good News Clubs. They feel there is a spiritual barrier blocking many evangelical organizations from advancing in ministry. Please pray that the newly formed National Board will have wisdom to overcome these barriers so that boys and girls in the Cayman Islands can hear the Gospel and receive Christ as their Savior.
